WELCOME TO THE NATIONAL BUCKSKIN SOCIETY INC.
The National Buckskin Society Inc. or NBS as it is commonly referred to, is the registering body in Victoria for the Buckskin coloured horses & ponies. The Dun colours are also acceptable & there are special sections for Perlinos, Cremellos & Black Buckskins. The NBS is affliated with NSW, SA, WA, Tas & Qld Buckskin Societies who combine to form the Australian Buckskin Association.
All Society's registrations are transferrable & with each society offering reciprocal showing rights.
NBS registrations are done by a sight classification by authorized classifiers. In exceptional cases an application for a photo classification may be accepted.
The Society runs 3-4 Shows each year including a State Titles show held at Bendigo in December, a Melbourne Championship show at Berwick, usually in October, Classes at Barastoc Show in February & a smaller show at the end of the season held near Sunbury area. The Society also sponsors most Buckskin Classes at Agricultural Shows throughout Victoria, including Melbourne Royal & Geelong Royal.
A Merit Award system is available & there is an annual Highpoint Awards Competition catering for various equestrian activities & age groups.
